Commemorating a rich past with an eye towards the future has been a hallmark of Tai Ping's identity for nearly 60 years. However, revisiting them in a whole new light proved to be an endeavor unlike any previous efforts. Through carefully re-examining such a pivotal decade in our history and deconstructing our classic collections, then distilling out their most exquisite and popular components, something deeper was soon revealed.
Once the forms, colors, materials, and construction techniques that comprise the essence of Tai Ping had been captured, the challenge of how to re-envision them in a fresh, inventive way was met with our characteristically multi-dimensional approach. Each individual component was carefully retranslated and recombined into striking new visual compositions that expose recognisable traces of past collections, reconciled in daring new contexts and settings that feel altogether original.
The result of this lovingly meticulous effort is Antho10gy, a remarkable new collection that honors the best of our archives through an entirely contemporary lens. It is a celebration that, at once, encompasses the pleasing familiarity of a retrospective and combines the bracing immediacy of a radical remaking- one that, in acknowledging previous success, sets forth a blueprint for the future.
